banned reply - I challenge the ED or anyone to tell me what is wrong with it??
In response to the question about an apparent racist comment in a coronation street script
"i think the point was the character was a racist and it was the sort of thing he would say so in that case it is drama and relevant to the storyline - the whole sunita thing and her family being against her having white friends is a long running issue, so i think they were just scripting it with the sort of thing her family would say.
you can't tackle racist issues without making any comments - it wouldn't have any sense of realism
its the can't make an omelette without breaking eggs thing"
and in response, on the same post, to a comment that anyone who thought white trash was anything to with being white was an idiot because according to them it just meant trailer trash -
"the DR - it started off as being a racist comment but has now become a general term for certain type of person - trailer trash
it would make no sense if it started out that way"
Seriously Ed, your policing of this site is getting ridiculous - at least read the comments before banning them!!

I don't mind having an answer banned if it's in any way dodgy but I felt my answer was wholly acceptable and quite reasoned. I agree that the policing of the banning policy is really lax, it seems complaining about someone because you don't like what they are saying is quite enough.See what you think.
"I actually think that although kick3mOn has got a bit rattled over this he/she is essentially right. This was a loaded question posed as an excuse for the poster to vent their feeling about non white people in Britian and how he percieves that white people are somehow treated in a less fair way. I've also found nothing to suggest that Stephen Lawrence was a mugger and even if he was, it is irrelevant as he was murdered because he was black."
Danny dawson, I don't think you're grasping the difference between reality and fiction. It's perfectly fine for a fictional character of any race to say anything in the context of a story, it's not ok for any of us in the real world, white or black, to incite racial hatred. That's the difference between a remark on Coronation St and for example, the cartoons of Mohammed that seem to have to be brought into every single thread no matter what it's about.
noxlumos - i can see how an individual may not like your answer because they don't agree with it, but you are right it is certainly not abusive or offensive or inflammatory!
since when is not agreeing with an answer enough to report an answer - and for the ed to ban?
if the whole thread had gone, fine, but no its just a few answers - who were actually answering the question logically, rather than some who were having a go... well its just wrong
I can't see anything wrong with any of the stuff quoted above.
Ed.'s always banning my threads. I've asked why lots of times, but I just get quoted about breach of Site Rules. Nothing specific.
I asked Ed. about his blog last week, Ed replied, then after a few more replies had been posted, the thread was banned.
Only Ed. knows why, children. Only Ed.
