"Come on, play the white man........"
I think it was "play the white man",phrase while playing darts.

That doesnt seem so bad, its just a saying isn't it?
That rather depends on your point of view........and whether you are actually white, or not..

thanks for that link douglas9401, it cleared a lot up for me.
yes it is caran, just a saying we grew up with and used mainly for sports. We couldn;t have possibly have meant it in any other context as there were no children of ethnic origin in our school, except Isobel, she was Irish. She's on my facebook and still Irish, but I didn;t know she was Irish I just thought she talked differently to me when I was 10.

I was amazed DJH at what was said, it didn't warrant all that outcry.
yeah well it's done for dramatic effect but also, why have they decided to depict that character this way, is it because he's a northerner? Or a bloke? no idea what they expect to achieve, certainly not an increased viewing average
Its so pathetic, carrying it on like that! I had never heard the phrase and asked some west indian friends and they hadn't either.
DJ, Paul is leaving so it's paving the way for his exit. Daft, IMHO.
it's a spat at best, he's supposedly splitting up from eileen over such a thing, crazy. mind you he's not exactly made the corrie favourite list.
