It will reduce the inflammation and is the first thing that doctors will suggest if you have pulled a muscle. Heat will help relieve the pain, but initially stick to ice packs. Take paracetamol and rest today. Don't attempt to lift anything or use your arms to any degree.
He says to use a COLD bag of peas, wrapped in a towel. And this advice (with a massage) cost me 30 - but well worth it. If I need to go again, it will be 5 cheaper.
Judiewudie - this time last week, I would've agreed with you. I was using a hot water bottle but COLD works much better!
judiewudie. Don't ever call yourself 'just a housewife'! It's one of the most important jobs in the world. Anyway, you are not wrong about heat. Cold takes down inflammation as well ask masking the pain, so is best for a new injury. However, heat helps to relax the muscles which is also good. Having just broken an vertebra, I can assure you that a hot water bottle was a great support!!!
