Do you think John Inverdale should lose his job over his remark about Marion Bartoli not being "a looker"?

no he shouldn't, but i would like to see him off the screen, he is a bore, has often made me cringe at some of the things he has said. What he said was rude and insensitive, in pretty much the mould of Clarkson,
Of course not. He has apologised and that should be that. Everybody can make a mistake.
I think the hysteria will die down, and Inverdale will carry on, and that is the correct decision.

I think JI was trying to make a point about sportswomen who achieve success in their field as against those who do not excel at their sport, but pick up masses of sponsorhip because of their physical image.

It was clumsily put, there is no doubt about that. No dad (I have three girls) would ever tell his daughter she is anything less than beautiful, because to her dad any daugher is beautiful, so that was a stupid and crass thing to say.

That said, I don't believe any malice was intended, it was a mistake, which happens on live broadcasts. Inverdsale has apologised both on air, and to the lady in question. She has accepted his apology, and that is the end of the matter.

If we are castigating stupid comments, what about the commentators who have blathered on about getting a British tennis champion for the first time in seventy years or what ever, when Virginia Wade is sitting in the studio!!
