Tour De France: Final Stages
44 Answers
As the TdF enters its final few days and after his heroics on Mont Ventoux last Sunday, Chris Froome can add his name to even further records tomorrow if he wins what is going down in history as probably the toughest ever stage in 100 years of TdF competition i.e. a double ascent of Alpe d'Huez.

It literally beggars belief. The mountain will have hundreds of thousands of supporters on its slopes and roads to it have been closed for days, such is the interest in this stage. Whoever wins will gain immortality in the world of cycling, fingers crossed it's Chris Froome, on his way to glory in yellow on the Champs Elysees on Sunday.

Because many pundits were expecting some of the GC contenders to make a do-or-die attack as they're running out of time but it didn't happen, it was nullified with a combination of Sky and Movistar going for the stage, when they'd have been better off moving Quintana if they could so IMHO yes, a great day for Froome. A fairly easy stage as there were no attacks and he didn't need to go deep to maintain his gap.

Splitting hairs Khandro, of course any stage winner gets kudos and particularly after only just winning the Gap stage but as I said, Movistar might have been better served concentrating on Quintana and improving his position even further, as some of the pundits said too.
