screen and font size trouble

yesterday when i come to upload my computer i found that my entire screen with the start menu, everything was incredibly reduced and was all put in the middle of my computer screen. I got around this by going to properties then appearance and eventually changing my desktop in a way that filled up my computer screen however the size of all the text, icons and windows especially on msn are incredibly small and not the same size as before, thats why i then went back to properties and adjusted the font to "extra large" but all my websites come up small as well as msn windows, which if i do stretch my display picture is still small . Can anyone tell me how to restore the original sizes of things. I run windows xp by the way. Thanks in advance! Dodamaksoud

Try the following:

Right-Click on an empty area of the desktop
Choose Properties
The Display Properties window opens
Choose the Settings tab
Change the screen resolution to a lower resolution.

Just what options will be available will depend upon what monitor you have, what driver is being used, and what video controller you have.

u could also try restoring ur system to a time b4 the problem appeared--would be worthwhile doing various anti-virus--spyware-ad ware scans--etc
