The quickest place to get a copy of a birth certificate is usually from the register office in the town where the birth was registered, which should cost 7. If you order from the central Government place http://www.gov-certificates.co.uk/?gclid=CI_N8 p7njIgCFShREgodsXVtHw it will cost 23.
this is unusual, the child benmefit agency already pay child benefit to the family, and so the pertson no longer having custody of the children should just inform the Child Benefit office of the change, if she continues to claim she is committing fraud, as the fatherm if he informs the benefit agency he has the children they will contact her anyway, the payment arrangements will just change, you should not be expected to pay out for nhew copies, the child benefit office should only need the childs date of bith and full names.

You can get them for 11 in Scotland and there are copies of all Scottish Birth Certificates at Register house, East end of Princes Street. You don't even need to be there yourself to collect it! It just needs to be somebody that can answer a couple of questions about your parents and your DOB and stuff. I was surprised how quick and easy it was to obtain!
