Pruning Trees

Street behind me has been closed today and will be tomorrow. Fair dos.
Isn't this the wrong time of year to prune them though?

Also, they've left them top heavy, as it were. Maybe this should be in Home and Garden but the trees aren't in a Home and neither in a garden. :-)

Councils are pruning (or pollarding) some of the trees round here at the moment, too - seems the growth is prolific and needs to be done a.s.a.p.

aha, Boxy, do you think the councils have all/each got a grant to do this?

Been in this 'street' for 8 years and they've never touched them before.
At least they didn't start making a noise at 6am though. :-)

the pruning has been done up the sides,decimated, but the tops have been left on, not a good description, sorry.

alaba, Don't blame yourself or keyboard for the way things are printed in AB. It only needs a single alteration to a typo to throw things into confusion. I sometimes find that if I make an alteration after I have signed off, not only is there a large space at the bottom of my posting, my signing off 'Al' will appear in duplicate and even triplicate if I make two alterations.

Apologies for having digressed from OP..... There is Not any particular time of year for pruning Trees.

They're finishing off pruning the rest of them this week, what a difference!!
It's really pretty and a pleasure to walk along that road now, instead of doom and gloom.
There's a lot of happy people in my area :-D
