doe's anyonr know of any decent free video editing software i can download, all i'm after doing is to cut short some home vid clips to make them smaller,

Windows Movie Maker will do this, if your pc came with it.

I am trying to open files to edit in windows movie maker and it say I need to download a codec whatever that is!! Anyway done that and restarted my comp but still struggling to open them!! Any help would be much appreciated.
