Not sure where to put this so it's going here ;)

On Monday evening a chap came off his bicycle outside my house and hurt himself, the ambulance came and decided to take him to the hospital. I offered to put the bike in my back garden as it would've been pinched had it been left at the side of the road, the bloke gave a thumbs up and one of the medics brought it over and into my garden.

Now, I'm a bit concerned for the bike as I've no way of covering it, it's been sitting out in the thunderstorms we've had this week. Do I have any responsibilty for it, and what do I do if he doesn't come to get it? Apparently he was drunk so might not remember where it is!

That's what I'm afraid of boxy, I'll have some mad bloke screaming for his bike. I'm not even sure I'd recognise him if he did knock to tell you the truth ;)
I think you'll probably find that data protection rules will preclude the ambulance service from releasing the bloke's address to you - not sure the police would know either, if he just fell off his bike rather than being in an RTA. You could ring and ask their advice, though, so you aren't charged with nicking the bike at a future date.
Is there a telephone number you can ring for your local Ambulance Depot.( General, Non Emergency number.)

I feel certain that the ambulance driver would have logged the accident and possibly has listed name and address of the cyclist for record purposes.

as above, alston - NHS procedures will mean they wouldn't be free to release the data to a member of the public.

Blimey, didn't think about me being accused of pinching it.

For Funks Sake, this is the last time I'm doing anything like this (not really), I'll have to find the non emergency number for our local constabulary.
Good point boxtops.

I'll get on my bike now. Lol.

Taxi for weecalf ;)
Alston's idea is still a good one. They won't give you the chap's address but may be able to pass on a message to him for you if they have his name and address.
They can't give you his details, but they can give him yours if you agree.
You should contact your local rag; i.e., Letters to the Editor, write the tale there, with name and address supplied, and the once drunken cyclist might get in touch.
