Is google just a big market place?

I'm fed up that everytime I search for something with google I have to go through pages of "compare prices" and "search for it on ebay". I bever use the interbet to buy or sell but for knowledge so is there any way of filtering out these sites from the search?

There sure is... but it depends what browser you're using. If you use Firefox <www.getfirefox.com> there's an extension called CustomizeGoogle that lets you filter out ads and sites you don't want to see in the results. I use it all the time to avoid all that commercial stuff. Cool, eh! Alternatively, you could try another search engine - Google's not the only one ;-)
