Dogs Barking

I let my nearly 14year old Boarder Terrier out in the garden, where she has started to bark for no reason at all. She has almost gone deaf, but can hear when you are standing in front of her.
She sits on the patio some 10feet away from the back dog and gives a whoof, a pause then another whoof. I think she is attention seeking. I would love to leave her outside "shouting her head off", but I am afraid that my nextdoor neighbour would arrange for her to have another ABSO. She was given her 1st one at the age of 11. She does not bark at fireworks, or ballons. I think it is all to do with her lack of hearing. Any ideas would be welcomed.

Dogs (and cats) can suffer from senility and there 'may' be something that the vet can do.

My last dog used to get terribly confused and would get lost in the house.

I am sure that someone will be around later ~ someone with more helpful advice.
That one tone, monotonous woof, woof, woof is the worst - it even gets on my nerves and I have six dogs that bark at various times. The oldies seem to not even realise they are doing it - mine used to do it when I went upstairs to have a bath - she would woof, woof, woof the whole time till I got out. Just remember you won't have her for ever - make the most of it and put up with it, you'll wish you could still hear it when she's gone.

I love her to bits and having just lost my Father (4th July) I dread when she goes. She sometimes thinks she is still 14months playing ball with me, but choose's to have a "senior" moment when she wants. If it was not for the nasty neighbour, who is nicknamed "Pit-bull" because she will never let go of anything, I would let her bark. One day Pit-bull waited outside for me to return from a hospital appointment, then launched into a verbal attack about the barking. We live in a nice area and I was not going to lower myself to her tone. or shouting. I just turned round and quitely asked her if I was to have her killed? That took the wind out of her sails. Her husband is fine talking to me, untill she appears. The neighbours the otherside, and in fact rest of the street are great, but not Pit-bull. Get the picture. You meet alot of people when walking a dog which is great. How do you spell whoof or woof? No spell check with this site.
