School Uniform

school uniform is a good thing - it gives students a sense of identity and it is much less expensive for parents (no need to buy latest designer wear) and children are not bullied for being different.

I agree with you MaryDou, I never liked my school uniform, but always knew what to wear on a school day, there is abit of pressure on parents though, a uniform from M&S looks nicer than a supermarket brand, but saying that the attraction to supermarket items is clear, they're so much cheaper.

I always wore a uniform to work too.

Just a passing comment on the answer from Melbur - re the work uniform - having worn school uniform myself I feel that unless an occupation specifically requires uniform dress - the "out into the big world" feel is lost - that is I am totally against the "corporate identity" thing going on now - the whole thing has been turned upside down now children are allowed to be "free and easy" in dress at school and pushed into uniform after leaving school - if they are lucky enough to get a job!!

MaryDou, I had to wear a work uniform, I was a care assistant first then a Dental nurse, I agree with you if there is no need to have a uniform, why create one, but I think I would set out clothes especially for work, a uniform I guess!
