It has been said that the wheels of British justice grind very slowly but exceedingly fine.

Our honours system confuses me though - As someone else says, Archer is still a Lord, as is Taylor, despite both having served time. And, whilst many were demanding that SoVile be posthumously stripped of his Knighthood, I am sure I read somewhere that this was not technically possible, for reasons I am unclear about.
Whether a bestowed honour can be removed must obviously be dependent on the rank of said honour....
I would imagine that Pryce has learnt a lesson though; Revenge, however justified, however deserving we might think the target, can often backfire spectacularly....

// Pryce was made Companion of the Order of the Bath for services to economics. She was director general of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform at the time.
The independent Forfeiture Committee exists to look at cases where the holder of an honour may have brought it into disrepute, such as by being sentenced to three months or more in prison. //
I'm not sure why taking your husband's speeding points should negate previous services to economics.
Fred Goodwin was stripped of a Knighthood, but didn't actually commit a crime (or did he? - someone correct me if I'm wrong).
I think there should be some consistency in these things, that's all.

I gravely doubt anyone really cares or will remember, and indeed some people may not even know that such an honour even exists which highlights it's importance. It won't impact on her on a daily basis. Her bigger problem is she's not very bright- who in their right mind tries to gain revenge on someone when they can potentially take the fall as well? Stupid.
Well I do believe that Dallas was not a soap opera but actually one of the first ever reality- TV shows ;)
Read any newspaper, watch Jeremy Kyle, follow news of court prosecutions and you can find any number of examples where intelligent educated people have allowed their own common sense or intelligence to be subsumed by hatred, fear, greed or revenge or whatever.
The level of dislike? Pryce had for Huhne could be heard in the tape recordings she made trying to catch him out and admit on tape that he got her to take the points. Pretty sad really. The kids have obviously been affected - again, you only have to read what the son said in response to Huhnes attempts to maintain any kind of faither- son relationship.

Yes there does seem to be some significant inconsistancies here
I would love to see the criteria the committe use to decide these on.
looks like getting a 3 month sentence or being struck off a professional body can start the ball rolling but after that it's confidential.
I'd be concerned that the amount of fuss the media have made is a criteria and whether or not the committee think they a 'the right sort' might be another

they don't seem to revoke peerages any more, though I don't know if it's official.
Anyone else is fair game
