The word paedophile hardly applies to this, does it? We use the word for sex with those under the age of consent or below puberty (really the latter but the word seems to have acquired an extended meaning). But, in any event, it is not on a par, though unpleasant enough, with those cases of the predominantly Muslim gangs we have read so much about. It may well be given rather fuller coverage when the trial ends, but it surely won't get the kind of extensive coverage and commentary, running for many days, that those cases got.
