Took 400mg this morning for some muscular pain on an empty stomach and have got fairly bad pain/cramp on right side of abdomen? Still haven't eaten as I am on the go but is it likely to do with the tablets as I know it always says take with food, but didn't think it really matters!

Yes. They make me feel really ill if I take them on an empty stomach.
It might be due to the Ibuprofen.....but I doubt it.
If it didn't really matter, why would it say so ?

Doh
I've never had trouble taking them on an empty stomach, but apparently it's quite common.
Yes it does and I speak from experience. its the best painkiller for me but it gave me a stomach ulcer when I took it a lot for toothache once. I took it without food and at night then lying down. Never again. I still take it when I have a really bad headache as its the only thing that will work but I take it with loads of food and it's fine.
I think if you were to take them long term without food you may well damage your stomach lining. Once or twice now and again shouldn't cause too much of a problem. Even a biscuit would suffice as taken with 'food'. Hope you feel better jd.
