All this week and all day Sunday is the best of the series by Ken Burns called "The West" which is being shown on PBS America (Sky 534). The last four parts are all about the treaties and false promises made to the native Americans and the treachery that was done by the settlers who initially the native Indians trusted and made welcome. It is spectacularly watchable and should be compulsive viewing for all Europeans whose ancestors (as recently as 100 years ago and a mere 100 years before I was born and I am only in my sixties) were instrumental in this diabolical so called civilised invasion of another county's native people. Shame on the American Government of the time and expecially those in power who gave the orders to break the treaties and kill all those who had innocently trusted the Government envoys.
