Ground Clearance Costs

Does anyone have a ballpark figure of how much it would cost to clear a mound of earth that is about 200 cubic metres, please?

I'd try and sell it, kathy, if it's worth having - there is always a demand either for topsoil or for less good soil to use as a base for other things. Do you have local freesell site, or anything like that?

Yes, we do but we really need it taken away as it is dangerous at the moment i.e it's only being held back by a 4 foot high wooden fence. It would be great if someone came and took it away for us or nothing!!

If its 200cu m thats about 17 8 wheeler tipper loads, so a good days work for 1 or 2 trucks plus a machine to load it. Depending on where you are and where your nearest tip is (assuming its inert, not topsoil...even if its topsoil you would have to pay for it to be moved), each truck load would cost you around £100-£150 (haulage and tipping fee). Hire of JCB or small 360 machine...about £20/hr...say £200 for the day, so you are looking at around £2000 minimum. (BTW, this is what I do...drive an 8 wheeler). Your best bet is to look in Yellow pages (or whatever) and look for haulage contractors in your area that specialise in groundworks, muckaway etc. Get a couple of quotes. Hopefully someone might even come out to check if there are any access issues. Its a bit hard to give a better answer without knowing where you are and where your nearest tip is and the quality of the material. If the muck is in any way contaminated (even just wood, plastic or old tarmac mixed in it) you are entering into a world of issues!!
