I used to have a sore neck from sleeping on two pillows which was really too high. It took a little while to adjust to sleeping in a more flat position but no more neck pain. I have tried memory foam in the mattress and hated it - it felt like sleeping in blancmange. I currently have a Tempur pillow. I know they are very expensive, but I got mine from Dunelm which was £50 cheaper than anywhere else at the time, and it is very comfortable. Our mattress was bought whilst on a "blanket trip" abroad. The company is called PAL (Pure Authentic Lambswool) and is the best mattress I have ever had. It is light, supportive and firm without being hard. Unfortunately these are only available to order from blanket trips, but copy cat versions are now available. I got them for my sons's beds from a website called Sleep-Matters.co.uk. They arrive rolled up, and automatically fill with air when unrolled. They are very light and easy to manoevre, and reduce incidence of dust mites.Again, they are not cheap but worth every penny to sleep well.
