Inheritance
So my mother died a few months ago. My family rejected me because I'm Transgender.
She had 60k in her bank account and left no will. I'm the only child from my mums first marriage, she's had subsequent children from two other marriages.
Mum + Dad = Me
Mum + 2nd Husband = Half sister and Brother
Mum and Third Husband = Two Half Sisters.
Now, I wasn't allowed to attend the funeral and my Aunt only told me of the death they day she died ( she had been dying for a week in hospital ).
There was no will left.
So what happens it's been 10 months and I think my other half siblings have screwed me over,
They are all a bunch of greedy gold digging devious people. Especially my two younger half sisters.
I think they have taken the money out of her account whilst she was dying and put it in their own back accounts. Then told everyone that she died penniless when I know this was not the case as a few months before her death she spoke to me a few times and we reconciled.

contact the local probate office and buy a copy of the probate grant, if there was no will there would have been an administrati on, whichever you find, you will know what has happened and then have something to work with. At the moment you'e just assuming and guessing.

Why have you waited this long?
If you had acted quicker you may have been able to do something but they have probably closed your mothers old account and so it will be very hard to trace any money you may be entitled to.
You could try to get a solicitor to fight your case, but the rest of the family may make it so difficult to get info off them it could take a while and perhaps cost you a lot of money.
It may be better to put it down to one of life's sh**ty experiences.

I take it she was divorced for a year before she died.
Are you saying the £60k was given out to others before she died. If so, do you think it was done by her or done fraudulently without her knowledge/permission? I think it would be difficult to prove and you'd need legal advice.
Were any of the half-siblings dependent on her- ie living with her or under 18/21?
Was there a property involved too?

As has been said your Mother’s Spouse would gain her estate as a statutory legacy in accordance with the laws of intestacy, I believe the amount is now £250K it was until quite recently (2008/2009) £125K, and he must have survived for at least 28 days, the spouse would also be entitled to her personal chattels, a definition of personal chattels can be found in S55 of the Administration of Estates act 1925.
If your Mother had died without leaving a spouse or registered civil partner but with issue you would have been eligible to your share of the estate and no distinction is made between illegitimate or legitimate children, adoptive children inherit from their adoptive parents not their birth parents.
