A friend of ours has been diagnosed with skull chordoma(I think) which is a fairly uncommon bone cancer.
She did have breast cancer about 10 years ago with no further problems and no chemo (just radio)
Am I right in thinking that this cancer is unrelated?
Amazingly (wait for this!!) she has been sent to Florida for 10 weeks treatment with proton therapy!! Paid for by NHS!
Apparently I heard recently that the UK will get a proton machine in 2017!
She is 64, so it's amazing but good to think that she hasn't been 'written off'

Interesting. \\\\\She did have breast cancer about 10 years ago with no further problems and no chemo (just radio) Am I right in thinking that this cancer is unrelated?\\ \\ You are quite correct. Well done NHS and well done American input.

Thanks Sqad. Strangely enough she just emailed me and said there are quite a few Brits including several children at this centre. They have been given a hire car and nice apartment and first class care.
She had to have an op (through the nose) at Southampton and not enough was removed so she had another one. She was then accepted by the Florida Centre.
It all started with double vision! They are getting a machine at London and one at Manchester. Typical of my friend she has joined in with fundraising for research into chordoma. She said one in 800,000 diagnosed with it. However I believe the proton machines are useful for brain tumours.
Thanks again for confirming my thoughts.
