Where Have They All Gone?

Watching Lynn tanking along the streets of Cromer in the excellent Alan Partridge Alpha Papa film, in her Mini Maestro got he thinking -

it is literally years since i have seen a Metro or a Maestro - where have they all gone?

I know they were rubbish, but surely some must still be about - heaven knows there are enough KA's around, and that's the ugliest thing on four wheels!

My Dad used to have a Montego - best car ever for sleeping in. Feet under drivers seat, and head against the passenger side C pillar. Bliss.

Considering they were rusty when they first came out of the factory in the 70's, I would think most of them have gone to the great car park in the sky a long time ago. Ghastly things, and I owned 2 Metros !

We used to travel from home to my Sisters house in Somerset, and, due to the fact that he used to be a Lorry Driver, we would set off at 4:00 a.m. (Because the rods were quieter). I'm also 6' 3" tall, so I was really comfortable, diagonally across the back seat!

Ahhh...I had visions of a very naughty boy...I love Somerset. The daughter lived in Yeovil until recently..I enjoyed visiting...she's in Honiton now.. just as lovely.

They'll still be mini metros in Cromer which drove down the slope to the pier and have never had the power to get back up again!
