I have painted 2 walls fine but starting wall 3 the paint is not going on well, all sticky and leaving streaky bits ... what has gone wrong ? I have added some water but now am painting with a brush but still not great. Any ideas what has gone wrong, many thanks.

It might not be the paint, but the surface you are painting. Was it clean ? Was it plain or lined with paper ? Even weather temperatures can affect how paint covers. However unless you are painting an igloo, that should not apply. Use a clean brush / roller and see if it is still happening .

I wonder if you stirred the paint before you started? sounds to me like you used the thinner paint on top and have now reached the thick stuff lower down the tin, can't think of another reason for the change in texture.
What are you painting on to, ie plaster /paper? what did you start painting with ( a roller) ? what sort of paint are you using ?

Just realised first 2 walls were on paper but 3rd wall had had a basecoat applied as had a dark colour to cover so I am assuming was the basecoat affecting the top coat, will see how another coat goes. Thank you
