I have had 2 letter from debt collectors for someone using my address to obtain mobile phones and not paying the bills. I've told the debt collectors to remove my address and I've been to the police who don't seem to be able to help. Can anyone suggest anywhere else i can get help to stop this happening as i'm worried my address will be blacklisted.
Thanks

This only happens if the company who provided the phone logs information with the credit reference agency. Debt Collections either buy debt or chase it for a percentage. Also the last thing a debt collection will do is take it to court because remember with a court there is always 2 sides to a story and you will be asked to prepare your side. The debt collection will do their upmost to irritate you, crack you and potentially harrass you, but stick it out. There is also a possibility that the debt collection agency could be a scam, if any person used your address for such a phone, you would have had the bill sent to you and the phone company would have signed agreements. Ask the debt collection agency what phone company it was as it is this phone company that would have given the debt collection agency your details - they are only acting on the phone company's behalf. Just don't be fooled by Debt Collection Agencies and your address wont be blacklisted, only a court can give you CCJ's to do this. Plus the phone company would have had to see some form of ID or proof of address from the person who took out the phone. If you yourself have not received any confirmations or bills at your address from the phone company direct, then the Debt Collection Agency is probably a scam for money
