I had a small fire in the kitchen last night and had to use the fire extinguisher to put it out. I didn't need much. Does that fire extinguisher need replacing now or can I save it for next time I have a culinary "incident"?

I think you should get it recharged if it's rechargeable, or replace it.
It's alvays advised by those who know about these things to do as SeaJay says.
Presuming its a CO2 extinguisher you can have it checked for the remaining pressure inside it. There are small businesses who provide this type of service in most towns in the UK - most of their business comes from doing the annual checks on fire extinguishers in business premises.
I'd get a new one. I didn't realise how long I'd had mine, they do have a "use by" date.
I would get it checked immediately to see exactly how much is there and recharge if necessary.
