I am looking forward to seeing a 17 year old young man become a Countdown Octochamp this afternoon. On each of his last 7 games he has scored over 100, reaching an amazing score of 140 on one day, demolishing the opposition and causing Susie Dent to consult the dictionary with his unusual words. On some occasions he finds a 9 letter word which gives him a score of 18.
He looks set to be a finalist.

Me too. I usually record it so I can pause to take about 5-20 minutes to do the numbers!
......and still not get it! (Like me)

There are some young people who are just amazing at Countdown, including this 11-year-old octochamp that is the youngest since 1988:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1077308/Lucky-Boy-11-youngest-Octochamp-winner-Countdown-20-years.html

And Conor Travers, who was an Octochamp at 14 and shares the record for highest score in a single show of 146, as well as most shows wins (tied) in the modern era at 19, also he's now on the other side of University.

He's been good to date, hope he does it!
He's rather dour though, isn't he ?

But still brilliant.
Why is it the winners always have a boastful gloating look about them and you just want to punch them?
Maybe they just feel good about winning. And why shouldn't they?
I was joking!
And I got the number problem he nor Rachel got!!!!!!!!!!! I feel so sorry for the contestants sitting in the audience waiting to go next when it's someone like him, I'd have to feign a heart-attack until someone easier was on.
Well done that lad, he'll be hard to beat.
What is he studying?
