The Dandie Dinmont Terrier here is running in and out of the rooms, pausing, and then running off again, to sniff and scratch at the floorboards. I'm guessing that there are mice, or possibly rats under there, but more likely mice because even I can hear rats, usually. What is the hearing range of a dog? Is she hearing high pitched squeaks which I can't hear?

She's probably tracking them by fresh scent. As they run, they will leave plume behind them.
