Hi peoples, just wondered if anyone could helpor advise,I bought a trailing/climbing fushia which i intended to grow up and over an archway. it's about 3ft talland looked wonder full, till i planted it in the ground, after about a week all the leaves started to fall off it, another few days later and its almost bare. The hole was watered not the plant i put some growmore in it too. has anyone got any idea why this has happened and will it servive, many thanks
It will most likely bounce back next year....has gone into a physiological shock...sometimes happens...especially if it had been grown on In a hothouse...or in a conservatory like structure in garden centre....wait till you see new sprouts next year then prune back to them....

WOW that was quick thanks,I gotta be honest with you looking at it i'm not so sure it will bounce back, even thought taking it back, but i'll leave it for now and see how it goes, I'm new to this gardening lark but instinct always seem's to get my grandad through so on that note nothing ventured nothing gained, here's hoping, thanks again peep's
DoD...my fuscias look like dead sticks over winter but do sprout again the following year , so don't give up hope...keep looking for new growth in spring and prune back to that point, they will then grow vigorously !
My wife has some when they flopped the other year I suggested some Viagra might get them up again......that thick ear lasted three days... It's okay Minty...I'm off to the step..;0) xx
DoD...come over to the good morning early birds....we are there every morning...some reeeeeely naughty peeps there....I have to do a miss whiplash to keep them in check ! Lol
Boaty !!! Go on ..shoo....back to your own bit...sorry Dod....Will have to seriously consider the shackles !..go on step on it....go sit with Slappy ....
You say the hole was watered, not the plant? Did you water it regularly (ie every day if it didn't rain) after planting? Keep it damp, not soggy and hope for the best.
if it was in full flower when you planted it, it will suffer shock and die back but don't overfeed it and it should be okay by next spring when the most unlikely looking twigs leap into life.
miss whiplash - is that character featured in one of titty's books?
