My all in one printer has packed in and I need a replacement.
Please point me in the right direction with your thoughts on what I should buy or should definitely steer clear of.
I want one that isn't going to cost me a fortune and is cheap on ink.

I had a Kodak 5.1 Hero and wouldn't buy again.

I use HP printers and recommend them but if you are going to buy a new one make sure it has separate ink tanks and also make sure it supports Airprint and web print. Airprint is Apple's print program that works wirelessly with your wireless network to print from IPads and of course your printer must have wireless capabilities. The HP 5520e is a reasonable one. we've got an HP, printer/scanner/copier - we're pleased with it. Ink's not cheap but we buy when it's on special offer only.
Ours is Kodak 5250. Use it constantly for work and kids' homework. Prints and photocopies. Printer about £45 and ink is cheap. Had for a few years without any problems.
You need to look at the price of ink refills first and availability, then work from that.

I've got a Kodak Hero 5:1 and no problems.
Most cheaper printers use a single cartridge for all 3 colours so, when one colour runs out, you have to replace all of them. I'd advise spending a little more to buy a printer which uses separate cartridges for each of the colours; it's likely to work out considerably cheaper in the long run.

I recently replaced my printer and, after a lot of research, I settled on this:

It cost me £80 in PC World but I note that they've now put their price up by a tenner. Amazon offer it for £83.30:

Thank you all for your replies, I still haven't got a clue what to do.
I liked the simplicity of the Kodak, but it only lasted one and a half years before it packed it. I don't do a lot of colour printing, mainly black and white and don't want to be messing about with loads of cartridges.
I personally would not recommend Kodak!

Gavmacp, neither would I.
I would NEVER buy another one.
I have an Epson WF2010 printer, which is quite frankly only capable of printing black and white, only had it a few months but it just will not print colours properly. This is the second Epson I have had, but really just so prefer the Canon Pixma which suited me well till it just stopped!
Our HP ^^ has two cartridges, one for colour and the other for BW. I do a lot of printing so the BW has to be changed more frequently.

boxtops, thank you for that. Will have a look later, as I need to go to bed now as an early start tomorrow.

I have a HP 6510 myself.

boxtops, can you tell me the model number, as that sounds more like what I am looking for, a good reliable printer, with only two cartridges to replace. I really don't want to buy loads of different colours as I do very little colour printing anyway, mainly all b/w.
Hi TW, it's the Deskjet 3050. :-)

Thanks for replying everybody.
Where do you live,I have a Dell printer with wi-fi,which I changed because it was cheaper to buy a new Kodak than buy ink. If you are near East Devon you are welcome to it.
Question Author
oh how kind of you giveup, however, I am miles and miles away from you.
Thanks anyway.

Thank you all for your recommendations.
I have now replaced the broken Kodak with an HP Photosmart 5520.
Thanks Buenchico - we have just bought the same on your recommendation!
