Select the start in safe mode option.
You will see a list of the user accounts set up on your machine, one of which will be administrator, select this.
Go to control panel / user accounts / change account ( I forget the exact wording) and select your account. There will be options available to clear or reset the password.
Restart the computer.
I think it's that simple.... I cant verify 100% as I don't run XP any more and I may well be completely wrong - but worth a try?

ok wen mylaptp turned on it always asks for password, which is fine, but if you do not use it for a time it locks andu need to do control, alt, delete, when i went into my account and removed the password, so my friend could use my lappie without it keep locking. all was fine until rebooting because of updates, and when it came back on it asked for password i put in the original password and it locked. i was just locking it b4 when i wasntusing it and thought removing this would not affecting anything else, but it has, grrr

Windows 7 Password problem. Remove or reset it with windows 7 password reset tool. For removing Windows Passwords in safety, I highly recommend Windows Password Reset 9.0. Last week, I lost my windows 7 password and I used it to remove the lost password successfully. You can open this site: http://www.reset-wind...ndows-7-password.html
