Pretty much Jayne, on the positive, I'll vote for St Ives, once you get into the place.

But I must say ...

Today, the sea is flat and sparkling, and the sun is blazing down on us.

I trogged around the town and down to the front for lunch without my shoes (okay, emergency floppies in my bag), and my feet are the dirtiest I can ever remember them.

The day trippers must have gone home after the Bank Hol.

It's quite blissful here right now.

And there's live music on the front at lunch time.

Definitely the best resort in the UK.

I have been to Brighton and Blackpool and from my experience Blackpool wins hands down in any contest for Britain's Worst Resort. Miles of tat, piles of sick and discarded food, and some of the worst drunks I have ever seen. I attended a conference there recently and I will be dragged back there again kicking and screaming in a sack. And I would still try to escape !

I liked the Trams though, but not enough to return to see them again.
Prestatyn is better than rhyl, st annes is better than lytham but not as good as southport, lowestoft is broccoli.
Withernsea gets my vote....Rotherham with seagulls....
Withernsea is dire...............when I was a debt collector I used to go there a lot.
Judging by the residents I think you'd have a full time job collecting bad debts.
I love Brighton and I find it hard to see how anyone could class it as the UK's worst resort. I can only think that they must have seen a copy of Martin Parr's fantastic book of photographs, 'The Last Resort', which is about New Brighton:

I was interested to see Jaywick mentioned above. I had family living there for many years and I occasionally go back there. Yes, it is a total dump (so much so that I've had Yellow Pages delivery staff refuse to go down some streets) but it's still got an odd sort of charm to it!
OK, so why hasn't anybody mentioned Margate yet?

(Don't knock Rhyl. It's the only place where I've been propositioned in a pub by the local nymphomaniac!)

Enough said ;-)

I'd go for Rhyll too. It's 30 years since I was there and God forbid I should ever go back.
p.s. I worked on the pool design many years ago.
1. Where is Rhyll?
2 Which pub was it?
Brightlingsea

Llandudno
there used to be a sign at Victoria station (allegedly): "Harwich for the Continent, Frinton for the incontinent".
