My Uncle will be 80 years old in November, there is a secret do being held at the 'Holiday Inn' with a Jazz band so everything is going smoothly.
My biggest problem is what to get as a gift, I'm willing to go to £50-£60...

Any sugestions folks?

The usual suggestions... newspaper(s) from the date he was born and /or a star named after him or a bottle of single malt?
Tandem sky dive
A book of your jokes !
Photographs, Jem of his family in some nice frames. Does he have a garden ? Something for there ?

does he have any interest in astronomy? - - - - name a star after him
Could you do a 'this is your life' photo album?

An engraved photo frame for a photo of him with the family at the birthday do?

If he has a wife, you can pay for a room at the Holiday Inn so they can stay overnight after the party.
For my 80 yr old friends and relatives I have gone down the route of a fine Malt Whisky or a Vintage Port.

The whisky, if you go for a significant date, may blow your budget; the port will be well within though.

If he doesn't drink then I have no idea.......
Would he like a nice bird table or a bench for his garden? Not sure you could do either with that budget but could you go in with someone else?
maybe a flying lesson? or a hot air balloon ride? They would be more than the budget though.
my FIl will be 80 this year, widower, no garden, virtually housebound, I've gone for the little maze games and puzzles, he likes them.
Bit naughty but he may like

You've all been very helpful some good idea's there. I should have said that when he was 70 he had some of your sugestions.
I like the malt whiskey idea, The stripper, I noticed in the local paper there was a 70yr old that did it for £25.
Actually he's quite fit no health probs. Aballoon ride might be good.
Will begiving him a family photo too. Unfortunately his wife is dis abled so a stay at the Inn she couldn't do but a good idea.
Thankyou to you all. xx

For my dad's 80th we all gave him money, he was shocked and said that no one had ever given him money for his birthday. He bought a new pair of dance shoes and paid to have some trees cut down in the garden, he was really pleased .
