Dirty Drink Glasses in Pubs?
I was in Edinburgh at the weekend and it has a vast mix of cultures. The pubs were hoaching and I doubt if the glasses were being washed properly due to amount of people in the pubs and queing to get in.
I have been ill since I came back on sunday - in fact I commented, because I initially couldnt stop sleeping, not normal tiredness, that I thought I had been poisoned.I since then have been virtually bedriddden and I attempted soup tonight over a 2 hr period and lets put it this way I cant keep anything in.
Has anyone else thought they had picked something up this way or is it not possible?

So in answer to your question it is possible. its all down to individual cleanliness
Get well soon
When pubs are really busy they don't empty the icebuckets and all the slimey water gets left in the bottom and they don't clean them ,just bung fresh ice on top. If you could see the sate of some of the ice machines..Yuk. I have seen bar staff in pubs use their fingers to put the ice in the glass ..double yuk.Having worked in pubs for quite a long time you would be surprised what goes on.Mind you that was a long while ago now .Hopefully standards have improved.
Hope you soon feel better.
Hi Drisgirl.....sorry to hear your not feeling too well.
My mum used to say years ago.....when you go out make sure you keep the same glass all night, I think she meant, if you are staying in a pub for any length of time to keep the same glass....Me and my sisters still do this to this day,if we order a drink we will pour the one we have ordered into the glass we are using.
Oh and keep away from those nuts!!!!..... :-) xxx
Shaney - that is just so awful - I've got the boak again.
BEZ - that is great advice - unfortunately I was on a bit of a pub crawl - but just shows mum knows best.
Stevie - I do because I can and I'm worth it (been watching too many adverts lying in bed) -anyway what are you complaining about I gave you two (just as well it wasnt your usual one - that would have had the tonques wagging:))
vast mix of cultures...lol
yes I heard that when you drink there are small amounts of saliva that come out and dribble back into the drink...apparently when you finish a drink, 60% of the bit in the very bottom is made up of saliva so if the glass wasn't cleaned properly then you've drank someones saliva which is safe unless they had a rotten tooth which I have had what you had through this as well as a really really sore throat infection on top due to the bacteria.
