Most of these are one or two odd cases in each area of unvaccinated puppies or from rescues, so I would expect there to be the odd cases but I don't believe this constitutes a national epidemic. If pups are vaccinated at the correct age then I believe their immunity is long lasting and does not need boosting yearly. Therefore vets are losing out so need to do something to boost their income.
I believe there have been a rise in the cases of parvo recently. Some believe it has been caused by the economic climate and owners not wanting to spend the money getting their dogs vaccinated. I agree some vets seem only to be in It for the money but there are a lot who do genuinely care and will go out of their way to help and not always charge for what they do. I don't think any of them want to see a dog suffer unnecessarily so if they are spreading this news then it's for the good of the animals. I have in the past given up vaccinating past the age of 6 when one of the vets I had told me he didn't think it was necessary after that. My eldest at the moment is getting to that age but I think
Sorry, finger trouble......
I think I shall continue with the vaccinations. I do wonder though why a human being can be given immunity to last them all their lives, typically 7 times longer than a dog but they can only come up with vaccines that only last a year for dogs, I know it 's different diseases but it makes you wonder.
