Well, an interesting spin on the more modern system of should you go dutch!
Interesting defence and am intrigued to see if he gets anywhere with it, somehow I doubt it!
Interested to see others' views, if on a date, men, do you expect or want to pay for a first date or expect the bill to be shared and, ladies, what are your views?

if the man has said 'i want to take you out', that kind of implies they want to 'take you out' and basically treat you.
but if they ask if you want to have dinner with me , that implies halves - although i know both are a just turn of phrase so actually imply nothing - so you should always have money with you.
i have paid for nights out for my fella, but we've been together years so its not like a date anymore.

If I invite someone out for a meal it's my treat and I pay...though I don't mind if my guest buys a bottle or two of fizz, wine...or a pint of Guinness...but I don't expect it....☺
If I am invited out I don't expect to pay but would buy drinks quite happily unless my host would be offended.
If we both decided to go out we would go Dutch....
None of the above influences what may or may not happen after dinner......;-) x
As for my phone...it's worth a little less than a pint of Guinness.
