Just wondering what everyone's thoughts of him are, personally i think the blokes slightly crazy but i think he's an amazing musician-although the appearance at live-8 wasn't too clever! most of my friends disagree, what do you think?

im with your friends ! totally overrated with drugs being his biggest claim to fame
Totally agree, can't see what all the fuss is about.  Druggie has problem, leaves band on bad terms, burgles flat of former band mate and has 'on edge' relationship with a model.  As my daughter would say, "Big wow"!
Didn't we (well not you and I personally) have this conversation a few weeks ago? It seems that the general opinion is that Pete is a useless, good for nothing, waste of space!
I on the other hand think that, yes, he may be all of the above things, but why is he this way? Consider that behind the rock star image, is a person who is having some HUGE problems and why not ease up on him a bit, afterall he's hurting himself more than he is hurting us!
O.K he has been a bit of a tw*t to his fans; not turning up to gigs etc, so...don't buy tickets! Eventually when he notices that his fan base have deserted him, who knows, maybe this will bring him to his senses, maybe this is what he needs! Lets not kick a man when he is down, show a little sympathy, not so hard, is it?

lets not kick him when hes down but lets boycott his concerts ?! im sure hes got far more public opinions being expressed about him than on a q&a site,i think we're safe.

why is it that when people express an opinion that they are perfectly entitled to that others get so riled ! isnt individuality great ?!

I do like him, but I do think he has a problem, and I do think that he will never get to a reality check state, if he does not see any consequences, i.e. nobody turning up for gigs. Have you ever thought that adoring fans actually perpetuate and maintain this problem, rather than let him work out that his talents are appreciated when he's in control, hence hopefully inspiring him to act on it for his ultimate benefit.

well, if he doesn't turn up at his own concerts, I think people have every right to boycott them!

Overrated, carried by the bands he's been in, could never make it by himself, will never make it to 40 unless he undergoes a serious lifestyle change.

Kate....what are you thinking??!! Seriously, she has a young daughter to think about- I think it's unbelievably selfish.

So Mattk, i'm not entitled to MY opinion? And yes, individuality is great... so is Sarcasm!
I was just trying to give you a DIFFERENT perspective! The more I read your answer, the more I realise how pointless that would be.

georgit79 i have to disagree,The Libertines was HIS band and he made them the success they became. He's proved he can make it alone by forming the babyshambles which are increasing in popularity. The Libertines have only produced one song since they got rid of Pete and it wasn't a huge success. I think this proves that without Pete the band simply won't work so he's never been carried by his bands, he's the one that carries them.

I don't give a flying f*** about his drug problems, love life etc. Anyone would think he's the first rock star to go off the rails. But as for the music - Yes, The Libertines made some good music but Babyshambles are cack. Just trying to ride on the Libertines wave but without Carl and the others Pete is a one trick pony.

Besides, I've never liked his voice (some Libertines songs made up for it by having blindin tunes) and now his new band's got a mediocre sound, the fact he can't sing is amplified.

I think he's a ****

He's a number one w1nker!! What's he famous for?? Being a herion addict.. calls himself a musician, but he's never in the papers for that, but always in the papers for his drugs, the way e acts, being a ligger, and a general waste of space... ggrrrrrmmpphh!

(Right, glad that's off my chest now!!) ;-)

great role model all round really. well done pete!
hes not a role model, i;d be shocked that even he would consider himself to be. Sometimes musicians are musicians to make music. He does, i like some of his stuff and not others. I don't read gutter press so i don't much care for his life outside his music. Though undoubtably the drugs have an effect on his music, there are a hell of a lot of top well respected bands whos music which was also created "under the influence"
Well said Robbieh. :>)

hope your being sarcastic 'great role model'??

this pathetic waste of space **** poor excuse for a human being is an absolute loser and the sooner the **** wakes up from his own self delusion and drug habbit the better we'll be and his music. He's an oxygen thief and should be forgotten and left to rot, an absolute ****** and i hate him.
