I have an x-type v6 2.5 petrol and about a month ago the oil warning light came on , then started flickering, after switching the engine off and on again after 5 minutes was ok then again after a few minutes of driving started doing the same again, I have changed the oil filter and the oil, the engine ran and sounded as it should and still does, now 50-75 miles later still the same, engine sounds as it should , no knocks, noises or anything (silent as it should), sounds like nothing is wrong, does this sound like a knackered oil pressure sensor switch , as all else is fine? just that I think i'm over analysing it (with knackered oil pump, engine wear etc etc which I have read may cause this (on the internet)), its just that the oil sensor is a pain in the tits to replace.
how long would an engine sound normal if there was something wrong with the oil pressure? until it died a sudden death, am i correct in thinking that if it was something serious it would have happened by now
thanks

Probably is the oil pressure switch, If it was the oil pump I think you would be hearing the big ends knocking by now.
