I met him at work once. I don`t think he was an inverted snob - he just came across as a normal guy.

As a boy he had lovely RP accent and now he speaks "Mockney". Then again, he was a boy in 1964 so I've never known him as anything other than a good, if odd, violinist. Just one of those things...
