Very Stressed With Work
I spoke to supervisor yesterday regarding time off for detailed 20 week scan late october. I told her this so they have plenty of time for cover. She said she will discuss with manager and see if i can have it or not.
Today she came to me and said, i am leaving the service short and the manager has offered to phone and re arranged my appointment, or i can cover/swap someone else's shift. I said i tried to re arrange, so he cannot do that, as my consultant needs to see me at that appointment, and its vital i attend on the date given, due to busy times.
This has stressed me out, as now i am told to cover a sat shift, which i don't want to do, but feel i have to. I had no time off during school holidays, as it was inconvenient. Every time i ask for a/l its an issue.
I thought maternity appointments would not be an issue as they are important. It seems im wrong.
I suffer from low blood pressure and headaches. I collapsed at work on Friday last week, due to the heat on the wards, i asked if i could stay in the dept, but they made a face, so i carried on.
I have an appointment next tuesday with midwife regarding blood pressure and headaches, due to the stress today, i forgot to tell manager, so now i feel i will have to cancel, i am on the verge of tears.

You are being treated disgracefully Phleb. You are also clearly under much more stress than a pregnant woman should have to face. Please see your GP on Monday and explain how ill and worked up you feel, and s/he should sign you off, if only for the simple reason that if s/he doesn't and you have a stroke the blame can be put at their door for not acting to protect your health. Also while you are off, with your feet up, join Unison as others have recommended and have a talk with someone as a first off. It is likely that these sods will replace you in the medium term but for now make sure they pay out by having you off on sick. Your health and your family are much more important than them.
You have particular rights which are accorded to woman in respect of pregnancy and maternity and to time off during your working day to keep an appointment to receive ante-natal care, your protection is the Employment Rights Act 1996 as amended s55, an employee will be regarded as automatically unfairly dismissed if the principle reason for her dismissal is because she is pregnant regardless of not having 2 years (from April 2012) continuous service.
Hello guys. I still feel pretty rubbish, so went to see GP today. He said i didn't look well, and he gave me a self certify sick note to send to my manager to be off for the rest of the week. I had sugar in my urine and blood pressure was fine, but i was shaking as i cant eat a thing and feel pretty weak. I went in to have my bloods done and handed the note to the receptionist, with a small letter explaining my sickness. I just want this vomiting to go away and i know i will be fine. My second child was born by c section, and i am having the most agonizing cramps where the scar is. Its not my day is it?
