Are American dollars accepted in Canada or do I have to change my US$ for Canadian$?

You'll find a few places that accept them (usually near the border) but it will be at an atrocious exchange rate. Far better changing them.

Would agree with dzug that places like Niagara Falls will accept them, but exchange rate will be terrible.
