Sqad - you are better than that!!! (LOL!)
Phil Herbert (more subtle that one)
We are all being very silly now.................................;-)
As Andy, i don;t mind certain people calling me Andrew, but it does have links with being told off as a child.

My mother still has trouble shortening it even now - althugh she calls my sisters Sue and Gill with no problem at all - figure that out!

My wife has never once called me Andrew in the thirty-three years we have been together.

I know a Samantha who does not like 'Sam' - so do you, she is the brunette on the Dove TV ad where they are moving boxes about.

My youngest daughter was christened Charlotte, but has always been Charlee.

Her son was christened Harry - as is quite common now rather than shortened from Harold.

I am happy to call people whatever they prefer.

/Zeuhl...was his surname McCaverty? /

Don't be vulgar sqad

If you must know it was McCracken
why not - celebrate the mid week with some insanity!
Zeuhl. LOL
I agree with mamya - unless a person is unhappy in their relationship, it's very sad to have a mindset that the grass is always greener, even temporarily. You must move in different circles to me, sqad.
I get called net,@ school nettie, which I hated,a few people who I donot see still do.hate my proper name, being called that always makes me feel guilty,I was a v naughty child,I'd've beeen put on meds these days
boxy....I am not sure that this is the correct section or indeed thread, to continue with that line of posting.
May not be, sqad, but it was you that brought the "bit on the side" into this thread earlier.....
i find some names really odd that can be shortened to all manner of
things - like elizabeth - liz, lizzy, eliza, liza, beth, betty, bet...

and alexander, al, alex, lexy, lex, alec, sandy, xander etc

i wonder how people choose which one?
I agree that shortened names sound more friendly, but don't like anything with a 'z' in it. My name is quite short, so i gave my children longer names to give them more choice. They can use full name if they become a doctor, shorter for a footballer.
I have a friend who called her children Carl and Lee, so they couldn't be shortened and then referred to them always as Carly and Lee-Lee.
Can't see the point in parents giving their children names than can be shortened. Coronation St is a prime example Simon is Si Leanne is Lee Tina is Ti how short do you want it," a rose by any other name is not a rose"
Two of my children are called Tom and Dan although on their birth certificates they are Thomas and Daniel. My other children have short first names but a 'grown up' middle name. Our thinking was that if they felt their first names weren't 'grown up' enough as they got older they could use the full version of their name or their more grown up sounding middle names.
I'm trying to think of members of my family that don't have their names shortened. We have Tommy, Eddie, Paddy, Mick etc etc.
Further to a mention of Patricia Hiscock not liking her name shortened.

I once knew a chap called Fabian Hiscock, surprisingly he wasn't too keen on having his name shortened!
I absolutely hate my name shortened.
Andy - Hughes does no one call you Ange ?

sudduv the first syllable of ange-rew

You have not lived

for those who wonder - grenz are frenz only with a g by mistake
I know a Muzza who's name is Murray. Seriously where did that come from? Murray is a perfectly good name.
