My Sony computer came with all the software preinstalled. It has a feature I'd could well do without. Whenever I'm typing out emails to send, the keyboard makes a 'bong' sound whenever a touch key is struck. If there was a different sound for each key it could be quite musical, as it is it's just plain irritating. What must I do to get rid of this noise? Please don't suggest I start wearing earplugs!

If the sound is coming through your speakers then you should be able to turn it off.

Go to Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Sounds tab and then look at the list of sounds - any that do have a sound associated with the event will have a little speaker icon next to them. Click on the one you think it may be and then click the "Play" (right arrowhead) button, the sound will play - if it is the right one you can then click the down arrow and select <none> from the drop down list - click apply and OK -- done.

If it is not in the list then the software is not using the standard windows interface for sounds.

If it is the actual keyboard that is initiating the sound, sorry I cant help you.
