2 Answers
I am staying in Hurghada for a week in March - is it worth going to Luxor, how long would it take, and what must I see if I go there?

It is four hours to sharm el sheik and Hurghada is much nearer. I dont know how long you have in Luxor but the Valley of the kings is a must. Its best to go early morning as it gets very hot after 11am The valley of the queens and luxor temple is also is very good. If you can manage the temple of Karnak the sound a light show in the evening is really different but go by taxi its much cheaper than with your travel agent about 6 and the driver will wait for you to come out about an hour and half later for this price. Remember that Luxor is old Egypt and not like the other tourist resorts. I have been four times and am going again in March I love the place. If you need any more info on luxor and there is much to tell please feel free to post again this week as I go on the 6th of March
Thanks deedee41, you have been very helpful. We have been to Sharm and absolutely loved it but thought we would have a change this time. When you say get a taxi rather than use the travel agent (I know just what you mean as we never go on the 'day trips' with them) ... is it best to use the travel agent for the day trip to the Valley of the Kings etc, and get a taxi just for the evening trip to the Temple of Karnak? We are going mid-March - what is the weather like then? Many thanks again :)
