Would You Give To This Cause?!

Okay, I know it's not a charity... You know how utterly brilliant John Cleese is? And how much joy he has given to the world? And how much money his ex-wife has taken him for? He is currently having to do world tours (at the age of 74), be in dreadful and humiliating adverts, do voice overs etc to raise money to simply pay his ex-wife. Here's the details: http:// www.dai lymail. co.uk/n ews/art icle-24 01209/J ohn-Cle ese-Hum iliatin g-forei gn-adve rts-com ic-geni us-maki ng-12-m illion- divorce .html
He is having to pay his ex-wife £612,000 every year until 2016. I want to start up a 'Just Giving' page (or similar) so that people can donate a tiny amount so he can focus on decent work/writing or just retire. I know he's not BADLY off compared with most of us, but I just hate to see him like this. He is a comedy genius, who, sadly made some marital errors, but can't we all pull together and pay off his ex-wife?!

that people were donating fivers to 'help' him?
and do you honestly think it would raise anywhere near enough to even make a dent in this?
he'd be utterly horrified and likely would not accept it.
he is working to pay his debt - just like everybody else.
as you said he is a comedy genius... why do you assume that just because he is 74 he cannot still work?
he will think of something - he is still the most famous and sought after python so im sure someone will snap him up.
terrible idea
