Lactose/gluten Free Products

I've been put on a new diet by a hospital dietician to try and help a bowel problems.
It's effectively no lactose (most dairy), no wheat (inc barley and rye), restricted fruit and veg and nothing with onion or garlic in (rules out most sauces, condiments, gravies etc... as used as a flavour, often with wheat for thickening).
I used to have issues with lactose and gluten but have not been off them for years (back in 1998-9 ish). I've reverted to lactofree milk and soya milk in coffee when out and tried Tesco gluten free pasta which is nice though mostly when hot and first cooked, it isn't so nice cold).
So looking for tips if people have them for good products they have found to try and prevent an expensive experiment trying to find things that are nice or not.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I find that Waitrose/Ocado have by far the best choice in gluten and dairy-free groceries. If you look at the Tesco ingredients they often include whey powder etc. I have Rude Health rice cereal, chopped banana and almond milk (light) for brek, millet bread and almond nut butter (toasted) or home made soup for lunch, or sometimes microwaveable Puy lentils and fish/salad. Or sweet potato, lamb, chicken, turkey. Buckwheat pasta is good, rice noodles too. Avoid oats as they do have gluten most of the time, unless you buy specifically gluten-free ones, same with spelt, rye and barley. Quinoa crackers are good. Shop in the wholefood or health food shop too, as most stuff in there is good.
