Taken as a whole, with all the classics and all the cheesies, which decade claims the crown for best music? 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's or 00's? We'll take it as read no one would vote for the 10's just yet.
Mid 60's to 70's. with out a doubt, you only have to look at the number of cover versions of songs from this era to see how popular it is with people of all ages.
I'm lucky to be born in the 50,s & had 2 older brothers who were into rock & roll. The Beatles & the Stones were around in the early 60's then prog rock in the 70's which morphed into punk. I was never a fan of Northern soul & Tamla, Atlantic had far better artistes...(pokes tony with a sharp stick) :-)
Seems it's a done deal for the 60's then. I suppose I can see the point in that. However I'm surprised that so few, if any, picked the 90's. In my opinion the 70' and 80's weren't great bar a couple of acts and I wouldn't listen to it, but there are still a lot of 90's acts still performing.
60s music made everyone sit up and think "Wow, this is different". Whereas most of what followed (with the possible exception of punk) was a gradual transition, so it doesn't stand out as much in people's minds.
