Shut Down Computer-
8 Answers
I have a serious problem with my computer in that it doesn't 'shutdown' when I click on the button,it simply goes through the motions and I end up with computer screen with a small rotating circle and the words shutting down. I tried yesterday leaving it run in that state for over an hour ,until eventually I had no choice other than to swich off at the wall. This meant that every time I switched on the compter it starts up with the option to start in 'Safe' mode,'Safe mode, etc' etc. or just give it the few seconds diplayed when it would start as 'normal'. How do I rectify this problem, please, as I don't want to use my 'Master' Windows Installation Disk as I believe this would wipe my hard-drive and I would have to re-install all of my software?
I can't seem to get any help from Microsoft!
Help please
Many thanks

Try loading in 'safe' mode and after a couple of minutes, shut down using the Start menu/ Shutdown button at the bottom left side of your Taskbar. Allow pc to shutdown and all disc activity to cease before switching off power supply. In safe mode only basic drivers are loaded so it will look a bit strange.
No idea why it worked, but it did for me.
Always tend to use the Windows shutdown option rather than the power off button.

I remeber there was a shudown glitch in an early version of Windows - and a fix was released for it.
You haven't mentioned which version of windows you have - that would help.
Also have a look in the event log and see if you can see any causes in there. Again version of Windows would help to tell you how to get the event log.
