internet connection

i use a 56k modem. when i connect to the web the normal dial up dialogue box appears then after clicking this another dialogue box appears called pre dial terminal. i have to click continue in this dialouge box to connect to the net. Has something attached to my pc or has something gone wrong with my pc? any help would be good

It's been a while since I've used dial-up, so I'm going by memory. First off, everything is fine (most likely!).

If you go to your dial-up connections properties page, somewhere on there is a check box with words to the effect of "Show terminal window before dialing". If you uncheck that, it should go back to normal. It may be hidden on some sort of "Advanced" tab, so you may have to look quite deep.
