You know when you get into a mind set where you just want to tell people how you really feel. I'm in one of those now.

Too late I've already sent the email
I agree. ^ Sometimes biting your tongue or counting to ten, very slowly, is the best way.
Whatever you do, don't send a ...

Oh. Right.
Can you send another and say you were stressed and to ignore ?

Don't worry it wasn't that offensive...

Dear 'XX NAME REMOVED',

Thank you for your email regarding the Medical Receptionist position.

I feel that I should of been offered an interview as a CV and covering letter can't possibly reflect me as a person.

I meet all the job requirements and have an expert knowledge of all computer software used at your surgery. I suppose it is your loss, not mine.

As a patient at your surgery I look forward to seeing who has fulfilled the job position.

Yours sincerely,

Stuart 'NAME REMOVED'.
You're a patient there?

OMG

Never send a stroppy letter to anyone who might, one day, stick a needle in you.
Sometimes it is policy not to employ patients for confidentiality.

Yeah because the doctors are in direct contact with the manager (yeah right) who is never to be seen. I don't think I have anything to be scared of in that sense JJ :)
needs to be "should have been offered" not "should of been offered".

If the receptionist job involves any typing they'll be thinking "whew!"

Job rejections, like job applications, need to be in good English, however steamed you are. If you're not sure about your English, always get someone to check them.

murraymints: Then they have a problem because there are 3 medical centres all link. The nearest one that doesn't cover the area is 30 miles away. I also know that all the members of staff are patients at the surgery. They must think I'm over qualified :p
Too late now. Next time run it by us first! :D
Oh dear, diz - you do have to realise that every NHS vacancy these days attracts loads of applicants, and sometimes it's quite small errors in applications which lead to them being weeded out and not interviewed. Your CV and covering letter should reflect what you can do, so I don't know what you mean by that in your letter. Practice managers are (generally) highly professional people these days, so I hope you haven't shot yourself in the foot by sending that email.

It could well be that you are overqualified, and they didn't think you'd stay - but murray is right, for reasons of information governance and confidentiality, it's rare that employees are registered patients in the surgeries where they work. If that's the case, they should have made it clear to you.

jno: Fair comment. The position may state medical receptionist but it is more like 'counter worker'. I know which member of staff is leaving and her role is rather basic and requires very little English. Most of it is telephone work and calling out names of patients. She is dyslexic and her typing skills are not great but she is a decent woman. He reason for leaving is unknown.
the woman who used to be the part time cleaner in the village dentist now works as a receptionist in the village surgery, she's not very bright, just nice and reliable.
I wonder if the post of medical receptionist involves more then ' counter-worker ?
My doctors is quite big and the staff seem to rotate as some will be on the counter for people with queries, fetching prescriptions, booking in for things like flu jabs etc... Some are in the back answering phones and, I assume, sorting correspondence, referrals and letters and such. One will be on the test results helpline. They seem to do all sorts. I imagine there are all sorts of things involved relating to the running of the practice itself as well as patient related.

I guess a lot depends on the type of practice, number of staff and job roles.

They may have already had someone in mind for the job.
