/// Well done AOG. Do you think she should have been watched while in the UK and Alerted if she went to places that teain terrorists. ///

And what about all the other British nationals that go over to Pakistan for training should they also be watched and alerted?

Perhaps that is not a bad idea come to think about it,stop all travel to Pakistan.

They are keeping an eye on some - I read a news article just recently about two people being stopped coming back into the country as they were suspected of having travelled to a training camp.

I imagine they also kept tabs on her although how easy that is is another thing, especially if she is involved with underground terrorist cells and people who can help her disappear. There seems to be some information known about her movements and who she may be involved with that the media has got its hands on and I don't imagine that our intelligence services (or those around the world) are going to be too forthcoming about their activities, who they are watching, why and where.

What makes me wonder is the suggestion that she is involved and, moreso, the suggestion there is a British woman, believed to be her, with them in the shopping centre in Kenya - time will tell if that is the case as I imagine that, unless she was smuggled out early, she hasn't much chance of getting out now.

The situation seems generally unclear, reports of no more hostages then that there are still hostages. It must be an absolute nightmare of a place to search.

AOG,

Do you think that the wife of a suicide bomber boarding a plane for Somalia might have seemed a tad suspicious?
Niknam Hussein, a councillor in Aylesbury who knew Samantha through her contacts with the Muslim community is reported to have said "If you tell me again that these sort of things emanate from Aylesbury, I'd be totally gob-smacked."

I’ve been to Aylesbury a few times in the past couple of years and only if I was told these sort of things do not emanate from that once thriving market town would I be totally gob-smacked.

Keith Vaz ventures: "Clearly this is someone going in and out of the country, it is important to monitor those who go abroad…”

Not so. The most important thing is to monitor those who arrive here from abroad. I don't care what these people get up to in places like Kenya or Somalia. We are not going to stop Islamic fruit cakes doing what they will. What we need is to prevent them coming here to the UK. Every time my wife and I jet off for a week in Torremolinos I have to provide the security services with details of my movements - when and where I’m going, my flight number, my DOB and my passport details. God only knows what they do with this information and I can see my providing it as serving no useful purpose whatsoever. What we need is a department that will actually do something useful with such a system like tagging the details of those such as this woman, who was once married to a suicide bomber, and monitoring their movements thoroughly.
The news at lunchtime suggested not that she was actually involved in the atrocity, but that she is a planner behind the scenes.
I read something about her being alleged to have run training camps, for females I think it was referring to in the article.
Regarding the security (API) details, I would be very surprised if Samantha Lewthwaite doesn`t travel on a false passport. One of my neighbours (who was, at the time an illegal immigrant) used to go backwards and forwards to Ghana on one - they are not difficult to get hold of, it seems.
The most important thing is to monitor those who arrive here from abroad.

that would hardly have helped catch Ms Lewthwaite, born as she was in leafy Buckinghamshire. There may be a case for monitoring anyone trying to enter Aylesbury, especially if it's to go to a terrorist training camp there.

Six Britons were murdered in Kenya New Judge.
Knowing where they are and who they may be involved with is also, unfortunately, a very different thing from knowing what they are planning and when they are planning to do it, evidenced by the terror attacks which have taken place, moreso the ones when individuals involved have been known to security services.
She may not be involved:

If not, hopefully she's not too far away from a drone strike.
